At High Desert Middle School, we use a school-wide system of behavioral expectations known as PBS (Positive Behavior Support). The goal of this system is to support/reinforce the positive behaviors in self-control, responsibility, and social skills strategies. The PBS system calls for the school staff to provide positive expectations of behavior for all areas of our school, with the belief that the students will meet these expectations. We have a wonderful student culture here at High Desert Middle School. This program recognizes this and helps us not only to maintain the culture, but also to build on it. Our goal is always to be the best we can be.
The “rules” for High Desert Middle School with the PBS system are few and easy. These rules put the emphasis on each person for taking care of their own responsibilities and helping others when they can. Our rules help to create a kind and safe learning environment. Simply put, our rules are:
BE SAFE
BE RESPECTFUL
BE RESPONSIBLE
The following few pages will give you the details on our Universal Rules and Behavior Expectations. It is your job to know and follow these expectations. Please ask your teacher if you do not understand what is expected of you.
